The Botswana Tamil Cultural Association (BTCAT),established in 1989 , based in Gaborone, serves as a vibrant platform for Tamils and well-wishers of Tamil heritage in Botswana. The term “Tamil” extends beyond ethnicity to include anyone who speaks, understands, or appreciates Tamil language and culture.

BTCAT exists to:
  • Promote cultural, educational, and social activities for the community.
  • Encourage the study of Tamil language and the learning of traditional dance, music, and drama.
  • Contribute to the welfare of society through charity initiatives across Botswana.
  • Play an active role in conserving nature and promoting environmental awareness.
